The Bridge

The Bridge is the name of our learning support program.  It is staffed by two Learning Support Teachers, a Student Support Worker, and Educational Assistants.  This group works very hard to assess and meet the academic and social-emotional needs of our students.

If a child presents with learning difficulties when they come to SCCS, or during their time here, the Bridge team will use a variety of methods to gather information about the student and work to put a plan in place for them to be best supported in class.  This may involve pull-out time in the Bridge room, help from outside agencies, or strategies for the homeroom teacher to use.

The Student Support Worker works with staff, students, and families to advocate, educate, and support in a variety of situations.  This could include individual or group counseling, strategies to reduce anxiety, social skill development, and more.  We recognize the importance of this role and have committed to our education of the whole child by making it a part of our Bridge program.
